Happy Friday folks. I hope everyone has had a great week. I'm glad to be back with another Record Time for you. This week's playlist was a blast to make.
Much of the music I listen to, I hear for the first time in film or TV. I recently watched the new "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" show starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. The show is an excellent spy thriller with a killer soundtrack. The trailer features a fantastic edit of AL Green's "Love and Happiness" which inspired this week's playlist. I highly recommend giving the show a watch, it's well-written, well-acted, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Who knows, maybe I'll start writing some TV/movie features for The Modern Xplorer.
The mix this week includes some classic oldies and some new releases. Some of my favorite tracks of note include The Mavericks' latest horn-filled single "Live Close By (Visit Often)" and King Kurtis' bass-driven "Memphis Soul Stew".
